We can certainly help you out provided that you have paid the other professionals who have prepared the drawings in question. Drawings for your house, that you have paid for, can be used by you or used by your other designers for that same house…provided that you have paid for their services.
Note that when we receive design drawings prepared by others, we must go through all relevant design checks and reviews to ensure that all Code requirements are met…only then can we stamp the drawings. Usually, the engineering cost for this is close to the cost of starting the same work from scratch…except that the drafting work is already done…which will save you some money.

This happens quite often. Many new modern designs require input from a structural engineer. This is very true for new open concept designs, and designs which involve large window openings in rear exterior walls.

If you need to have some structural design prepared for your project, then we will provide you with a quotation for the work before we start. Fees for structural engineering services for a house renovation typically range from about $1,200 to about $3000, depending upon complexity of the work. We often supplement the architect’s drawings with our structural specifications, but in some cases, we prepare separate structural drawings for a project, and this tends to add cost to the work.
